(1) What was from the beginning, what we have heard, what we looked at with our eyes, what we beheld and our hands touched—concerning the Word of Life—(2) and the Life was made manifest and we have seen and witnessed it and reported to you all the everlasting Life, which was with the Father and was made manifest to us —(3) what we have seen and heard we are reporting to you also in order that you may have a share in this as well, and our own participation with the Father and with His Son, Jesus Messiah. (4) We’re writing these things to you in order that our joy may be complete. (5) This is the message we have heard from him and are making known to you:  God is Light and in Him there is no darkness whatsoever. (6) If we say we have fellowship with Him and yet we continually walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. (7) But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another and the blood of His son Jesus cleanses us from all sin. (8) If we say we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. (9) If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just, remitting our sins and cleansing us from all unrighteousness. (10) If we say that we have not sinned we are making Him a liar and His word is not in us.
