(1) Everyone trusting that Jesus is the Messiah is born of God; everyone who loves the One who begot Him also loves the One who is begotten. (2) In this we know we love the children of God: when we continually love God and observe His commandments. (3) For this is the love of God: that we should keep the commandments; His commands are not burdensome. (4) For all who are begotten of God overcome the world; and this is the victory which has overcome the world: our faith. (5) But who is the one who overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? (6) This is the one who came through water and blood: Jesus the Messiah. He did not come in water alone, but in water and in blood. The Spirit is bearing witness, because the Spirit is the truth. (7) Because there are three bearing witness: (8) the Spirit, the water, and the Blood, and the three are in the one. (9) If we receive the testimony of men, the testimony of God is greater, for this is the testimony of God he has witnessed concerning his Son. (10) The one who trusts in the Son of God has the testimony in himself. The one who does not trust in God deceives himself, for he has not believed the testimony which God testified about His Son. (11) And this is the testimony: that God has given to us everlasting life, and this life is in His Son. (12) The one who has The Son has life; the one who does not have His Son does not have life. (13) These things have been written to you so that you might know that we have everlasting life--those who have faith in the Name of the Son of God. (14) And this is the promise which we have in him: whatever we ask for in accordance with His Will he hears us. (15) And if we know that he hears us (if we should ask him), we know that we have what we asked of him. (16) If someone sees his brother sinning in a way that leads to death, he will petition, and He will give him life, [that is, for] those whose sin does not lead to death. There is a sin leading to death; I am not saying he should ask concerning this. (17) All unrighteousness is sin, and there is a sin that does not lead to death. (18) We know that everyone who has been born of God does not continue in sin, but the one who was born of God keeps him, and the Evil One does not touch him. (19) We know that we are from God, and the whole world lies in the ways of the Evil One. (20) And we know that the Son of God has come and has given understanding to us in order that we might know the One who is True; we are in Him who is True, in His Son, Jesus the Messiah. He is the True God and Life Everlasting. (21) Children: guard yourselves against false gods.
