PSALM 139
1. To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David.
Yahweh, you have searched me and known me.
2. You know when I'm resting and when I get up;
you discern my desires from afar.
3. You measure my wandering and my laying down,
and you are ever aware of all my ways.
4. Before there is a word on my tongue--Behold!--Yahweh knows them altogether.
5. Before and behind, You enclose me;
You place Your hand upon me.
6. Such knowledge is incomprehensible to me;
it is so high I can never reach it.
7. To where can I run from your Spirit?
And to where from your presence can I run?
8. If I ascend the heavens, there You are;
and if I make my bed in She'ol, I behold You.
9. Were I to ride upon the wings of the dawn,
settle on the far side of the sea,
10. there also Your hand guides me,
and your right hand takes hold of me.
11. Were I to say, "Surely the darkness will take hold of me,
and the light about me be night,"
12. The darkness can never hide from You,
and night gives light as day, as its darkness like its light.
13. For You created me; You weaved me together in the womb of my mother.
14. I will praise you, for I am fearfully and uniquely made.
Your works are wonderful, and my soul knows this in abundance.
15. My frame is not hidden from You for you made me in the secret place.
You skillfully formed me in the low place of the land.
16. Your eyes saw me while I was merely an embryo,
and all the days ordained for me were recorded in your Scroll,
even before they had actually come to pass.
17. And to me, how highly esteemed are your thoughts!
How numerous is their sum!
18. Were I to count them, they would be greater in number than the grains of sand; when awakened, I am still with you.
19. O that you would slay the wicked, O God!
Deliver me from bloodthirsty men
20. who speak wicked things about you!
Your cities exalt vanity.
21. Do I not hate those who are hating you, O Yahweh,
and do I not loathe those who are rising up against You?
22. I hate them with complete hatred, for they have become enemies to me.
23. Search me, O God, and know my heart;
examine me and know my "stinkin' thinkin'." (disquieting thoughts)
24. See if an idolatrous way is in me and lead me in the way everlasting.
Yahweh, you have searched me and known me.
2. You know when I'm resting and when I get up;
